Ketamine

Introduction

  • This page provides information on the use of Ketamine in chronic pain. It is intended to support hospital doctors prescribing ketamine for chronic pain under the supervision of the Palliative Care Team.
  • Ketamine is unlicensed for use in pain and the patient's GP would not normally be asked to take on prescribing.
  • This document may however also serve as a useful GP reference if one of their patients is maintained on ketamine by the Palliative Care team.
