Psycho-oncology

The Psycho-oncology Service aims to:

  • Provide a comprehensive psychological assessment of patients and their families who are affected by cancer
  • Provide a framework to enhance patients’ understanding of their emotional reactions
  • Provide specialist psychosocial interventions using a range of therapeutic approaches tailored to meet the individual needs of people with cancer and their families
  • Act as a liaison/resource to other staff 
  • Take part in teaching and training events to maximize the psychological skills of other health care professionals who may work with cancer patients
